Boarderhouse

Boarderhouse is a water sports centre on the shore of the Untersee, the western part of Lake Constance, in Berlingen in the canton of Thurgau. The team, led by Reto, runs a shop, a school and a rental service from a single lakeside building on Seestrasse. Activities include wakeboarding, wakesurfing and water skiing behind the centre's boats, wing foiling and parawing, pump foiling from a dedicated pump dock, windsurfing, kitesurfing and stand up paddling.

For kitesurfing, the centre caters to riders who already have some experience: it offers private lessons supervised from a boat, to help with a next step such as riding upwind. Wing foiling and foiling are taught in one-hour lessons; first flights can be made towed behind a small boat or on the pump dock, with a wing or on a windsurf, kite or SUP board. For windsurfing, the school runs a full 8-hour course (two theory lessons and six hours on the water) and a taster session of about two and a half hours for groups of three or more, with wetsuits provided. SUP lessons and guided tours are also available, as well as packages for companies, clubs and school classes.

The shop, which also has an online store, sells kitesurf, wing foil, foil, windsurf, SUP, wakeboard and wakesurf gear, including Naish, Ensis, Duotone, Core, Starboard, Fanatic, ION and O'Neill, and repairs boards. The centre rents out kites and kiteboards, wings, foils, windsurf gear and SUPs, and stores customers' SUPs during the season. A live webcam shows the water.

Shop, June to September: Monday to Friday 10 am to 12 noon and 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.

May: Monday to Friday 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, closed on Sunday. April: Saturday 10 am to 4 pm, weekdays by phone appointment. October to March: open by phone appointment only.

On the water: June to September, daily from 8 am until sunset; in May, weather permitting, by appointment.
