Tropical Corner

Tropical Corner started out in 1981 as a windsurfing school on the south shore of Lake Geneva, on the Quai de Cologny next to Genève-Plage. As board sports evolved, the centre added stand-up paddleboarding, foiling and wingfoiling; it now describes itself as one of the largest SUP centres in Switzerland and the last real windsurf centre in the Geneva area. Activities are open to everyone with no membership fee, and the site also has a lakeside café-bar with a terrace that hosts the "Au bord de l'eau" summer evenings.

Wingfoiling is taught by an instructor, on a SUP board for beginners or straight on a foil board for more advanced riders; the instructor follows the student by motorboat or on a board, in packages of one to six sessions. The centre also offers introductions to boat-towed foiling, windsurf foiling and pump foiling from the end of the pontoon. Wing rental includes boards, wings and foils for all levels, with buoyancy aid, wetsuit and boots.

For windsurfing, the school runs private or group lessons from age 7, in packages of one to five sessions, and one-week summer courses for 8-17-year-olds with the City of Geneva sports department. Through partnerships with Neilpryde, JP Australia and Windsurfer, the rental fleet ranges from 80 to 240-litre boards and sails from 1 to 8.2 m², in leisure and premium ranges with new models added every year. Stand-up paddleboarding is offered as introductions, lessons, rental, yoga paddle or paddle polo.
