Rodiles Surf School is a pioneering surf school in Asturias, directed by Asturian shaper Álvaro Fernández, creator of RodiRide Surfboards and of the Rodiles school since 1991. It is on Rodiles beach, in the Villaviciosa estuary nature reserve twenty minutes east of Gijón, where a famous left-hand wave, often compared to Mundaka, breaks.
Lessons (beginner, intermediate, advanced, private) are given by instructors qualified by the Asturian Surf Federation, under the RodiRide Surf Club, with a guided visit of the board workshop. The school also offers summer surf camps, a paddle surf school in the estuary, equipment rental, RodiRide board sales (shortboards, guns, funboards and retros, malibus, longboards) and a surf house with garden, kitchen and barbecue terrace in the middle of the beach.
A Shaping Workshop (April to December) teaches how to build or repair your own board, from shaping to finishing, over about 40 hours, led by Álvaro Fernández, who has more than 28 years of board-building experience.
