Narbonne Kite Passion (NKP) is a kitesurfing school founded in 2011 at Port la Nautique, on the edge of Narbonne, on the northern part of the Bages-Sigean lagoon, within the Narbonnaise Regional Nature Park. It is run by Matthieu Brunel, a state-qualified kitesurf instructor (BPJEPS), and is a member of AFKite. It shares its base with the Narbonne water sports centre (Pôle Nautique), where it is in charge of kitesurfing.
Lessons take place on a large sandbank in shallow water that can only be reached by boat and is used by the school alone. One instructor looks after four students at most; each has their own kite and a helmet with a radio on a separate channel. The Duotone equipment is replaced every season and sold at the end of the year; wetsuit, booties, harness, buoyancy aid and helmet are provided. Changing rooms, toilets and hot showers are on site.
The programme runs from a 4-hour introduction to 2, 3 or 5-session courses towards independence, then coaching (twintip or surfboard) and kitefoil. Independent riders can rent equipment, ride under supervision or do an unaccompanied downwinder from the Cible or riding-centre spot to the school spot, with a boat ride back.
