AMAR Surfing Academia

AMAR Surfing Academia is a surf and bodyboard school located on Faro Beach (Praia de Faro), about a 15-minute drive from Faro Airport. It was created in 2009 on Faro Beach and presents itself as a team of instructors led by Vitor, nicknamed "Thor".

Lessons are open to all levels from age 6, in groups of up to 7 students per instructor. A session includes the equipment (board, wetsuit, leash), beach theory and roughly 1.5 to 2 hours in total. Formats offered are group, semi-private, private and family lessons, plus student and local packs (1, 4, 6 or 10 lessons). Boards and wetsuits can be rented by the day.

The team speaks English, Portuguese, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Booking is by WhatsApp; the school also runs summer sports holidays for children and lists yoga and boxing on its page. Prices are given on request.

Daily, weather and sea conditions permitting; Faro Beach can be surfed all year, with summer (May to September) gentler for beginners.
