Surf365 Ericeira is a family-run surf school led by João Rua, who left a 35-year career to dedicate himself to teaching surfing, together with Filipa Romeiras, Pedro Rua and Miguel Rua. It works on the beaches of the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve and is open 365 days a year.
It offers surf lessons for beginners, intermediates and kids (Kids Club, ages 7 to 13), in groups of up to 6 people per instructor, or as private lessons. Lessons last 2 hours and take place at Matadouro beach; board, wetsuit and boots are included, and there is a place to leave belongings. Beginner lessons are given where students are waist-deep in water.
The school is accredited by the Portuguese Surfing Federation and all its coaches are certified by the IPDJ (Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth). Lesson times follow the tides and sea conditions.
