Katana Surf, kitesurf craftsman in Osborne Park
8/15 Carbon Court, 6017 Osborne Park · Western Australia · Australia
About the craftsman
Katana Surf is a shaping workshop in Osborne Park, north of Perth. Dave Smith has been shaping boards there since 1981; the workshop says it has shaped more than 17,000 boards in over thirty years.
It builds custom surfboards (shortboards, midlengths, longboards) and kiteboards, using its own construction designed for performance. It also sells shaping materials (PU blanks), plus XCEL wetsuits, leashes and traction pads.
Katana repairs all kinds of boards: surfboards, stand up paddle boards, kiteboards, surf lifesaving boards and windsurf boards. Surfboard repairs are usually returned within three days: just drop the board off at the workshop. The workshop also runs surf tours to Rottnest Island.
