Savage Surfboards, kitesurf craftsman in Wilmington

Savage Surfboards is a handcrafted surfboard workshop in Wilmington (North Carolina). The brand was launched in 1982 by Kenny Briel, who has built boards since 1972 (first in Satellite Beach, Florida, then Atlantic Beach). The workshop moved to North Carolina in 2000, and Shawn O'Donnell joined as a partner in 2013; together they have more than 70 years of experience.

It builds high-performance shortboards, longboards and everything in between, all available custom: the surfer fills in a form (height, weight, level, board type, materials, fins, artwork) and the workshop calls back before starting. The shop also sells fins and in-stock boards and does ding repairs and restoration.

Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm (hours shown on the website).
