Overview

Ouddorp is located near the westernmost point of Goeree-Overflakkee on the North Sea. The kite zone is between beach access points 7 and 9. Medium waves with westerly winds, strong currents and breakwaters make this a spot for intermediate to advanced riders. Best season: January and April–August.

Access via N215 from Rotterdam direction, then towards Ouddorp. GPS: Ouddorp beach, Goeree-Overflakkee.

On the water

North Sea — medium waves depending on wind and swell. Choppy in SW/W/NW. Submerged breakwaters between access points 7-9 (know their positions). Large tidal range. Strong lateral currents in strong wind. Cold year-round: 3/2mm minimum summer, 5/4mm winter.

Just behind the dike, free of charge.

Wind specificities

The wind can become strong, and you need to be wary of black clouds that arrive like a wall - in that case, it's better to get out.

With strong wind, the current can also become strong and runs parallel to the beach, making it difficult to go upwind.
