The exposure in the Kalmarsund allows riding in southwest to west winds. The strait offers relatively sheltered conditions with limited fetch. Conditions are suitable for intermediate riders. Dunö is a mainland spot that offers an alternative to the Öland spots, accessible without crossing the bridge to the island.
