Spot functioning
In July and August lifeguards are present — leave via the channel on the left of the beach and do not enter the bathing zone. Best timing: end of the ebb tide. At rising tide with southwest to northwest wind the water gets choppier but remains fun. Submerged rock in the middle of the bay — visible at low tide above coefficient 70. Locate it at low tide before foiling over it. After 7pm the beach is no longer supervised but can still be busy in summer.

Open year-round. Best season: April to October. Lifeguard supervision July-August. The north to northeast window makes this a precious alternative when the Atlantic coast is offshore. Traict de Merquel also rideable with care.

On the water
Sheltered bay with flat to slightly choppy water. Sandy bottom with a submerged rock in the middle of the bay — visible above coefficient 70 at low tide. Locate before foiling. Best flat water at end of ebb. Rising tide with southwest to northwest wind creates moderate chop. No significant swell inside the bay.
Parking
In winter, autumn, spring, right in the streets next to the beach.
In summer it's more challenging...
Wind specificities
North to northeast wind is the signature window — very rare on this coast and Sorlock's unique orientation captures it perfectly. West to northwest also works well. Southwest is possible. The protection of the Pointe de Merquel keeps conditions cleaner than the exposed Atlantic beaches in north and northeast wind.
Hazards
Submerged rock in the middle of the bay. Visible at low tide from coefficient 70
So when foiling, be very cautious. It's better to locate it at low tide before playing above it!
With north-east wind, very flat spot but on-shore orientation
