Overview

False Bay is a kitesurf spot located in the Spencer Gulf in South Australia, near Port Augusta. This sheltered bay offers relatively calm sailing conditions inside the gulf. The prevailing wind comes from the south to southwest in summer. The water is shallow and relatively calm in the gulf, with little swell. The bottom is sandy to muddy. Tides in the Spencer Gulf can be significant and influence sailing conditions. The spot is suitable for intermediate riders. It is an isolated location with little infrastructure. The region is semi-arid and hot in summer. You need to be self-sufficient and bring water and supplies.
