Overview
Veli Rat is the northern tip of the island of Dugi Otok (municipality of Sali, Croatia). A windsurfing and wingfoiling guide describes a sheltered flat-water lagoon near Veli Rat and, further on, the Lopata point, reachable from Veli Rat, which comes alive in a southerly with waves and which locals count among the best wave spots in Croatia. The guide does not mention kitesurfing.

The bora, from the north-east, is gusty. The west maestral is a thermal wind, generally light but sometimes strong in spring. The southerly jugo signals worsening weather. The best months are September-November and March-June.
