Overview

Les Coussoules is an established kite spot at La Franqui (Leucate, Aude), with a windsurf area to the north, on the windward side. The north-westerly tramontane, offshore, gives flat water and often blows very strong (over 40 knots reported); the south-easterly is rarer, with waves, and is described as a regular thermal in summer.
