Oak Grove Beach features a sandy beach, parking, and amenities. Most accessible spot in the Des Moines area. Lake level varies with precipitation and dam releases. Season from May to October.

Hazards
Frequent violent thunderstorms with lightning — exit water immediately. Very variable lake level: hidden shallows and submerged debris (trees, branches). Current possible near dam — respect marked restricted zone. Motorboat traffic. Turbid water hiding obstacles. Tornadoes possible in season (May-August).
