Overview

Kikugahama Beach is a kitesurf spot located in the city of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, on the Sea of Japan coast. This historic beach sits at the foot of Hagi Castle, offering a unique sailing setting with views of the castle ruins and the historic samurai town. The spot benefits from prevailing northwest and west winds in winter, blowing from the Sea of Japan. These winter winds are regular and sometimes powerful. In summer, conditions are calmer with occasional thermal breezes. The water is partially sheltered by offshore islands, limiting the swell. The spot is suitable for intermediates. The city of Hagi, a former samurai city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers an exceptional cultural setting to complement sailing sessions. Parking and services available in town.
