Overview

Urk / IJsselmeer is a kitesurf spot on the IJsselmeer near the historic fishing village of Urk (Flevoland). Flat to light chop water, good for foiling, wingfoil and freestyle. Urk is a unique traditional Dutch fishing community — one of the last in the Netherlands. Spectacular views over the IJsselmeer.

Works with N/NE/NW/W/E wind. S/SW: possible wind shadow from the village. Deep water from shore — drag-launch required, no standing area. Year-round accessible. Intermediate level minimum. Urk is famous for its strong local community and traditional fishing culture.
