Overview

Roosevelt is a kitesurfing spot on the Columbia River in eastern Washington State, upstream of the John Day Dam. This section of the Columbia Gorge benefits from powerful thermal winds that funnel through the valley from the west during summer. The body of water is a reservoir (Lake Roosevelt) offering flat water conditions. Semi-arid landscape with basalt cliffs typical of eastern Washington. Less crowded spot compared to the classic Gorge sites.
