Rooster Rock / Columbia River kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf spot
United States · Oregon
Overview
Rooster Rock is a kitesurfing spot in Rooster Rock State Park on the Columbia River, at the western entrance to the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. The park is named after the imposing basalt monolith that dominates the landscape. This spot marks the transition between the Portland valley and the gorge proper, benefiting from the beginning of the Venturi effect that characterizes the Gorge wind corridor. Westerly thermal winds are less powerful than upstream but remain regular in summer.
