Overview

Fort Pierce South Jetty is the south side of the Fort Pierce Inlet, on South Hutchinson Island. The south rock jetty creates a reference point and interesting wave conditions. The spot is technical due to inlet currents and proximity to rocks. Advanced kitesurfers enjoy wave riding near the jetty and current conditions.

Atlantic waters with strong currents at the inlet. Waves formed by the interaction of inlet current and ocean swell. Sandy bottom but jetty rocks nearby. Variable depth with deep channel in the inlet. Water influenced by the Gulf Stream.

Hazards

Very dangerous rock jetty — maintain large distance. Extremely strong currents in the inlet. Very frequent sharks. Fishing and recreational boat traffic. No easy rescue beach on the inlet side. Spot reserved for advanced riders.
