Overview

Sandpits is a kitesurfing spot located south of Hobart in Tasmania, in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. This spot gets its name from the sandbars that create shallow water areas ideal for kitesurfing. The prevailing wind comes from the northwest to west in summer. The sandbars offer shallow flat water conditions, perfect for freestyle and learning. The depth varies significantly with the tides. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suitable for beginners and intermediate riders. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is required. Watch out for depth variations linked to the tides. Parking nearby.
