NY Kite Center

The NY Kite Center is a kiteboarding shop and school in Amityville on the Great South Bay, Long Island (New York). The water is flat and shallow for miles, sheltered by marsh islands, which the center says makes it the best place to learn in the northeastern US.

Lessons and clinics, from beginner to advanced, are taught by IKO-certified instructors with jet ski support, rain or shine: a maximum of two students per instructor, each with their own kite, bar and board. The program runs from intro lessons (Pre-Flight, Take Off, Power Up) to progression (Board Time, Boom Time, Wave Guru, Go Pro), with multi-day clinics. The center also offers beginner wing foil and e-foil lessons, teaching trips and snowkiting.

The shop sells new, used and demo gear (kites, boards, bars, efoils, wings, foilboards, wetsuits, harnesses), rents equipment and repairs kites. Brands include Cabrinha, F-One, Flysurfer and Slingshot, among others.
