Mundaka Surf Shop

Mundaka Surf Shop is a long-established surf shop a few metres from Mundaka's famous left-hand wave, in Bizkaia. Opened in 1985 by Australian Craig Sage, who has lived in Mundaka since 1982, it has supplied surf gear to locals and visiting surfers alike.

The shop sells and rents equipment (surf, bodyboard, stand-up paddle, kayak, wetsuits). Its surf school, open from March to October, is staffed by instructors qualified by the Basque School of Sport and the Basque surf federation (EHSF): lessons start from the school at Txorrokopunta and take place on Laida beach, across the estuary (Urdaibai biosphere reserve), around low tide.

Local press in June 2026 reports that the founding family is looking for a successor to keep the business going, with no permanent closure announced.

Off season (September-June): Monday-Friday 10:30-13:30 and 17:00-20:00; Saturday 10:30-14:00 and 17:00-20:00; Sunday 11:00-14:00. Summer season (July-August): every day 10:00-21:00. Surf school: March to October.
