Jo Moraiz Surf School

Jo Moraiz is a surf school founded in 1966 on the Côte des Basques beach in Biarritz, which presents itself as the first surf school in France. It holds the French Surf School label and is a partner of the City of Biarritz, Surfrider and the French Surfing Federation. Its website includes accommodation visuals dated June 2026.

Lessons (1.5 hours) are for beginners and experienced surfers, children and adults: group or children's lessons, one-hour private lessons, a wave garden for ages 5-9, and 3- or 5-day courses (relaxed, free ride, intensive). A club formula runs in the autumn and spring terms. The school also welcomes groups and seminars and offers gift vouchers.

Instructors hold the state diploma and supervise in the water for the whole lesson. The school also has accommodation, the Surf Lodge (studio and duplex).
