Paddlecult Surf School

Paddlecult is a surf school on Black Beach Road in Varkala, Kerala. It is part of a place that also has rooms and cottages, a cafe, a pool, a skatepark (Flowcult) and yoga retreats; the team describes it as an ocean community.

Lessons are taught by instructors qualified by the Surfing Federation of India (SFI): group beginner lessons (four students per instructor), private lessons (two students at most), intermediate coaching, board rental and a five-day surf camp. Board, leash and rash vest are included, with a beach safety briefing; sessions run at 7:30 am, 9:30 am and 4:30 pm depending on conditions, and pick-up is available from the accommodation.
