SURF CITY Miyazaki (サーフシティ宮崎)

SURF CITY Miyazaki is a watersports lifestyle club in Aoshima, next to Aoshima seaside park, in a renovated Taisho-era traditional house. The clubhouse has a yoga studio, a front desk, a lounge, a workspace, lockers, showers, a powder room and a garden. The website presents surf, SUP, yoga, running and work as a nature-based way of life.

The class programme covers surfing in three levels, SUP in two levels plus speed training, SUP yoga and snorkelling, with a compulsory theory class before starting. Surf 1, for beginners, takes place on Aoshima beach, where the water is shallow and the waves are small; levels 2 and 3 move on to take-off, turns and manoeuvres. The club also runs after-school classes for junior and senior high school students (once or twice a week) and rents boards and wetsuits.
