The Shaka Surf Club is a surf school in the fishing village of Kodi Bengre, near Udupi on the Karnataka coast. It sits between the Arabian Sea on one side and the Swarna river on the other.
Founded in 2007 by Tushar Pathiyan and Ishita Malaviya, it describes itself as one of the first surf schools in India. 'Shaka' means 'hang loose': the spirit is friendly, relaxed surfing.
Students can stay at the club's camp, run with seven village families, with home-cooked meals. Bookings are made by email or phone.
