School Presentation

Guya'Kite is a kitesurfing association founded in Cayenne in 2003 by PE teacher Yann Déjou. It is affiliated with the FFVL, approved by the French youth and sports authority, and describes itself as the only school in French Guiana run by a state-qualified instructor.

Lessons suit beginners as well as riders who want to progress (upwind riding, surf-style riding, foil, first jumps). Full equipment is provided: harness, vest, helmet, kite, bar and board. An FFVL licence, which includes insurance, is required. Most people need 5 to 8 sessions to ride independently.

Since 2014 Guya'Kite has also developed Tandem Handikite, a tandem session with the instructor open to people with disabilities and to children from 2.5 years old. The school works with medical and social care centres across French Guiana.
