Hydro Surf School (formerly Esplanade Surf School) teaches surfing at St Clair Beach in Dunedin, at 1 Esplanade. The school is run by Leroy Rust, owner and head coach since its purchase in 2025. It is backed by Hydro Surf, which has been on the beach since 1985.
The offer includes group lessons, private lessons, family lessons for up to five people, a programme for under-16s (Weekend Warriors), school lessons, surf programmes, surf tours and gear hire. The site also links to Hydro Surf Safaris for advanced guided trips.
The school presents itself as the only certified surf school in the Dunedin area: ISA and Surfing NZ certified coaches with current first aid certificates.
