Tico Wind is the windsurf, kitesurf and wing foil centre on the western shore of Lake Arenal, in the Guanacaste highlands. It opened in 1991 and presents itself as the country's oldest operator for these sports.
The centre rents and sells windsurf gear (Fanatic and Duotone) and kitesurf gear (Cabrinha kites, with a choice of bow or hybrid designs). Kitesurf lessons follow the IKO curriculum. Foil instruction is also on offer, with experienced instructors, and a few stand-up paddleboards are rented out for days without wind.
Danny, who has worked at the centre for more than twenty years, now runs lessons and rentals, which are available all year round whenever conditions allow. The site is on Route 142, about 14 km from Tilarán.
