Blueplanet Kite Beach

Blueplanet Kite Beach is a kitesurf centre with a hotel at Shorabad, in the Khizi district, about 50 minutes north of Baku. It presents itself as the first kite school in Azerbaijan.

The centre sits on a peninsula that encloses a lagoon several square kilometres wide. The water is flat and waist-deep over a sandy bottom with no stones, a reassuring setting for beginners, and the lagoon works in every wind direction. The school says no rescue boat is needed inside the lagoon.

On site there is a kite station with a shop, an air compressor for kites, basic emergency repairs, a restaurant, a pool and a sun terrace. The hotel rooms open straight onto the beach, and a day pass is available to visitors. The kite season runs from June to October.
