Gotlands Kiteskola

Gotlands Kiteskola describes itself as Gotland's only "local" kitesurfing school. It is run by Mats and Simon, who met on their IKO instructor course at Haga Park on Öland in 2020 and have run the school together since 2021, when Simon moved to the island.

The school's "office" is a Volkswagen surf van in which the instructors drive to the day's beach, most often Gnisvärd. Depending on wind direction, lessons take place at Tjurudden, Gnisvärd, Lausvik or Ekeviken, on long shallow beaches. Since 2024 the school has worked with LiLo Surf in Gnisvärd.

The one-day course (about 4 hours) follows the IKO syllabus: theory and practice, safety, wind theory, rigging, flying the kite, launching and landing, body-drag and first water starts. The two-day course (about 9 hours) builds on this so that students can continue on their own. There are two students per instructor. A wing foil introduction is also offered. Wetsuit, helmet, life jacket, harness, board, kite and bar are included; a complete kit can be rented for 2,000 SEK per day by those who have taken a course.
