Vējā Kaitborda skola

Vējā is a kitesurfing school based at Engure port on the Gulf of Riga coast in Latvia. It is IKO-affiliated: lessons are given by certified instructors and students receive an IKO certificate recognised by centres worldwide.

Progression follows the usual steps: kite control and safety on the beach, then body dragging and self-rescue in the water, then first rides on the board. Most people need 6 to 10 lessons to become independent. Full kite equipment (kite, bar, harness, board, vest, helmet) is provided. Lessons are private or in small groups of two to four, depending on the wind, at Engure, Jūrmala or Milzkalne; in winter, courses take place in warm destinations.

Vējā also rents kite gear, SUP boards and bikes, runs youth training sessions with IKO coaches and operates a beach café. The centre was partly funded by a European project for a watersports centre (Water2Snow).
