Earnse Bay Kitesurfing
Earnse Bay Car Park, LA14 3XZ Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness · Cumbria · United Kingdom
School Presentation
Earnse Bay Kitesurfing is a kitesurf school on Earnse Bay beach on Walney Island on the Cumbrian coast. The bay combines shallow lagoons, rolling waves and steady wind, with views of the Isle of Man and the Lake District fells. The school continues a kiting tradition begun in 2005 by Gary Powell; Chris Ainsbury, a former Senior BKSA instructor, took it over in 2019 and now works with the IKO.
Courses cover kitesurfing (three-hour introduction, couples, family or group lessons), wing foiling, wingboarding and SUP surfing; a new two-hour e-foil session, for two people at most with a safety boat, is offered from age 12. All equipment is supplied; changing rooms, toilets and showers are on site.
The school also runs stand up paddleboard tours, sells kite equipment online and operates a beach cafe, the Surf Shack.
