Arctic Kites

Arctic Kites is an itinerant kitesurfing and snowkiting school with a specialist online shop, based in Joensuu in eastern Finland. The business has no visitor address: lessons are given on location in several towns across the country.

The summer kitesurfing course is held in Joensuu and Hanko. It starts with about 2 hours of remote theory (weather, safety, equipment, right-of-way rules), followed by 8 to 10 hours of practice spread over three days: kite handling, body dragging, kite relaunch from the water, self-rescue, then first rides on the board. The school does not watch the clock and adapts the days to the weather and the student. It also offers hourly lessons, a theory course, equipment rental in Joensuu and a snow-to-water course.

In winter, snowkite courses are held in Joensuu and, with another instructor, in Turku, Rauma, Tampere and the Pyhäjärvi-Säkylä area. The lead instructor, ranked Finland's best kitesurfer in 2023 and 2025, also specialises in foil and big air.

The online shop sells kites, bars, boards, harnesses, wetsuits, impact vests, as well as wingfoil and foil gear, spare parts and used equipment. Brands: Flysurfer, North, O'Neill, Reedin, Levitaz, Ride Engine, Core and Slingshot.
