School Presentation
Kite School Pro is a kitesurf school on the island of Sylt, run by Dirk Derksen. It describes itself as the only school on the island whose instructors are IKO certified and which issues an internationally valid kite licence at the end of the course. The spot is chosen according to wind direction: the calm east coast on the Wadden Sea side suits first attempts, the more demanding west coast suits experienced riders.
Lessons are "one by one", one instructor for one student, across three levels: first steps with the kite on land and the IKO licence, going into the water (bodydrag, upwind, relaunch), then getting on the board (first water starts). A level 4 is reserved for advanced riders. A 90-minute taster with no prerequisites introduces wind, kite and safety on land. Equipment and wetsuit are provided. The season runs from April or May to the end of October.
