Kite-Lessons Kiel

Kite-Lessons is a kitesurf school run by Ilja Schäpke, based in Kiel. It teaches every day around Kiel and Eckernförde, at Noër and Laboe, moving with the wind and weather; the spot is agreed with each student. The website also mentions lessons in Hamburg, on Fehmarn and in Sankt Peter-Ording.

The offer includes a 2-hour taster, beginner courses in a group or for two students per instructor, advanced courses, a 2.5-hour private lesson and one-to-one wing surf lessons. All equipment (wetsuit, kite, board, harness, boots) is provided free of charge. There is no official minimum or maximum age: the youngest students are about 14 and the oldest so far was 65. A lesson starts with a briefing on the spot (water depth, mussel beds), then kite flying exercises in the water, bodydrag and finally the first metres on the board.

On weekdays lessons usually start around 3 pm; at weekends they run in the morning or afternoon. The school sells gift vouchers and prepares students for the kite licence.

Lessons every day around Kiel and Eckernförde (Noër, Laboe). Weekdays usually from 3 pm; weekends 9 or 10 am to 1 or 2 pm, or 1 or 2 pm to 6 or 7 pm. Other times on request depending on the wind.
