Surf Camp Maine

Surf Camp Maine (Maine Surf Adventures LLC) is a family-owned surf school and summer camp on Scarborough Beach, inside Scarborough Beach State Park near Portland. Founded in 2001-2002, it describes itself as Maine's only dedicated surf school.

Its flagship program is a week-long day camp for ages 9 to 15, from 9 am to 3 pm, where campers learn to surf and explore the local marine environment. A Beach Camp is for ages 7 to 11 (boogie boarding, snorkeling, tide-pooling), and a four-evening program is reserved for adults aged 21 and over.

Group and private surf lessons are offered from age 9, on Saturday mornings in small groups of up to 8 and on weekdays for private groups of 3 to 5. Wetsuit and surfboard are provided, and the school also runs a fall surf program, gift certificates and scholarships.

Summer season: camps from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday; small-group lessons on Saturdays from 9:15 am to noon; private group lessons on weekday mornings from 9:30 am to noon. The phone is rarely answered, so email is the best way to reach the school.
