Thumbs Up Kiteboarding is a kiteboarding and watersports center right on the beach at Huron County Park in Caseville, on the Michigan shore of Lake Huron. It is run by Larry Ruhstorfer, a certified kiteboarding instructor and lifelong windsurfing enthusiast who invested in Caseville in 1999.
The center offers kiteboarding lessons (a PASA-certified lesson center, the Professional Air Sports Association), kayak and stand up paddleboard rentals, and eFoil lessons. Kite lessons range from a one-hour introduction with a foil trainer kite to an eight-hour course that gets students riding on a board on their own.
The shop sells kiteboarding, paddle and kayak gear and is an authorized dealer of Lift eFoils. According to the owner, Caseville is the only spot on the Michigan side of Lake Huron that gets the dominant prevailing winds, thanks to its south-southwest to northeast facing shoreline.
