School Presentation
Ohana Surf Lessons is a surf school on the Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, based in Keauhou. It specializes in beginners of all ages and puts family safety first, as its name suggests ("ohana" means family in Hawaiian).
Instructors are experienced local surfers, lifeguard and CPR certified, and trained in ocean safety. The school operates under a Special Use Permit from the Hawaii DLNR.
Four surf lesson formats are offered: group (one instructor for four students, ages 12 and up), semi-private (up to three students, ages 10 and up), private (ages 8 and up) and tandem, for children aged 4 to 8 who share a board with their instructor. Guided stand-up paddle lessons along the Kona coast are also available, with all gear provided (ages 8 and up).
Booking is online or by phone. The website does not give a precise meeting point.
