School Presentation
Island Foil offers one-on-one wing foil lessons on Block Island, the Rhode Island island off the south coast of New England. Lessons are private, with all gear and safety equipment provided.
The instructor follows each student closely by boat and talks to them live through a waterproof radio headset, giving real-time tips. The boat is also used to bring gear back upwind and to switch wings or foils as the student progresses. The school has five board sizes, many wing, foil, mast and stabilizer sizes, and electric pumps for quick inflation.
The programme runs from an intro to foiling (towed behind the boat) through wing handling and the first rides on foil, to jibing, pumping and wing surfing in waves. Multi-lesson packs of two-hour sessions are available, with the later sessions scheduled around the wind forecast (the breeze usually peaks between 2 and 5 pm). A 3/2 wetsuit is recommended in June; lessons usually meet at Andy's Way.
