Outer Surf

Outer Surf is a surf school in Nags Head on the Outer Banks (North Carolina), founded in 2018 out of the girls' surf club Outer Babes started by Bri. It first ran camps at the friendliest, least crowded breaks in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head, then opened a shop at 2500 South Virginia Dare Trail in 2021. The website now says the storefront has moved online and that the season's lessons and camps are wrapped.

The 90-minute lessons combine a beach part (safety, conditions, board anatomy, pop-ups) and an in-water part, with all equipment provided: private lessons, couple lessons and group lessons for three or more (one instructor for three students). The school also runs surf camps (Girl Grom, Teen Wahine, boys, adults), the Outer Babes club during the school year, women's surf retreats and events, and sells apparel, swimwear and accessories online.
