BL3 Escola de Iatismo - Ilhabela (Armação)

BL3 Escola de Iatismo is a sailing school on Armação beach in Ilhabela, the "national capital of sailing". It started in 1992 on the Guarapiranga reservoir and has worked in Ilhabela since 1994. It is affiliated with ISSA, recognised by the São Paulo State Sailing Federation (FEVESP) and uses the RYA method.

Besides sailing courses (Optimist, Open Bic, Dingue and Laser dinghies; ocean sailing; Arrais Amador licence; regattas), it offers private kitesurf lessons (inflatable support boat; kite, board, vest, harness and wetsuit provided, Duotone Brasil gear), windsurf lessons (basic to advanced levels) and wingfoil lessons, in partnership with Ensis Brasil (4-lesson course: wing control, waterstart, self-rescue, sailing). Wingfoil lessons only take place when wind conditions allow.

The base has a large storage yard (sailboats, windsurf, kitesurf, SUP), changing rooms, lockers, a washing area, a nautical repair workshop and a snack bar. Rentals: SUP, kayaks, sailboats, windsurf. The site mentions a new pier for easier access in east wind, a dedicated BL3 Kite Center and an associated pousada (Armação dos Ventos). Prices were not recorded.

Wednesday to Monday (closed Tuesday): 9am-5pm on weekdays, 9am-6pm on weekends. Boats must be back one hour before the base closes.
