Salento Coast Ovest Kitesurf School

Salento Coast Ovest is the first kitesurf school in Gallipoli, founded in 2004 on the Ionian coast of Puglia. It is run by Mino Bastia, a kitesurf and windsurf instructor recognised by the FIV (Federazione Italiana Vela).

Lessons take place in Gallipoli, on Baia Verde beach (Lido Pizzo), or at Torre San Giovanni (Ugento) inside the nature park, depending on wind direction and strength. The basic course is made of eight theory-and-practice lessons: safety, wind and Salento spots, right-of-way rules, kite and line setup, flying small kites on land, then water sessions with harness, safety systems, relaunch and body drag.

Every student gets one year of free access to the school's live weather service (wind speed, direction and the day's history).

The school also runs a repair workshop for kitesurf kites and windsurf sails, boards and harnesses, all brands. Lessons are offered all year round, wind permitting.
