Gorka Yarritu Surf Eskola Sopelana

Gorka Yarritu Surf Eskola Sopelana says it is the first surf school founded in Bizkaia: Gorka Yarritu, a professional surfer, former competitor and former Quiksilver team manager, created it in 1998 on Arriatera beach in Sopela. It also says it was the first to obtain the EHSF quality label.

The school offers lessons for all levels and ages: beginner, continuation, improvement and technification, in small groups or private lessons (recommended for under-8s), with certified instructors, equipment and insurance included. Lessons cover not only technique but also reading the environment, respect for nature and sea safety. Continuation and improvement groups run all year.

It has agreements with the University of the Basque Country (UPV) for free-elective credits.
