The Base Nautique du Salagou is a non-profit association running a sailing school and hire centre at the Baie des Vailhés, a cove of Lake Salagou in the municipality of Celles, about ten kilometres from Lodève. The unspoilt site has a beach with lifeguards in July and August, a volleyball court, a food outlet and an adjoining campsite, and is also a starting point for walks and mountain-bike rides around the lake.
Wingfoiling is taught in two-hour private lessons for up to two students, and wings can be hired for independent riding. The team includes an instructor holding the BPJEPS kitesurf and wingfoil qualification; the base manager holds the BPJEPS sailing qualification. Windsurfing is taught in summer courses (from age 12, adults welcome) or private lessons, and boards can be hired by the hour or with a 12-hour card.
The base also runs Optimist courses (ages 7-12) and catamaran courses, private dinghy, catamaran and paddle lessons, hire of pedal boats, paddleboards, canoe-kayaks, catamarans, electric boats and mountain bikes, guided paddling trips and group sessions (schools, holiday clubs, companies). Annual club membership gives access to the club's boats and boards.
