Yacht Club Mauguio Carnon (YCMC) is a non-profit association set up in June 1988 by a group of racing sailors. Since 1994 the town of Mauguio has entrusted it with running the Marcel Buffet sailing base on Quai Éric Tabarly, at the harbour entrance of Carnon-Plage, on the Carnon Ouest side; the current building opened in 2019. Sailing takes place at sea, in the bay of Carnon. The club is affiliated to the French Sailing Federation (FFVoile), holds the École Française de Voile label and belongs to Nautigliss, the network of water sports centres in Occitanie.
On the board-sports side, the club teaches wingfoiling (from age 10 according to the website, 12 in the 2026 brochure) and windfoiling (from age 12). Wingfoiling is taught in three half-day courses during the school holidays or in private lessons all year round; windfoiling in private lessons only. In July and August, supervised sailing lets independent riders (FFVoile level 3, or an assessment on site) hire a wingfoil or windfoil board. The staff includes a coach dedicated to windfoil and wingfoil; the club runs a youth wingfoil racing group and a windsurf/windfoil group in its sports school. It also organises the Carnon Wingfoil Event, whose 2026 edition (26-27 September) is a national freestyle event counting towards selection for the French youth championships.
Otherwise, YCMC is first and foremost a racing-oriented sailing club: courses and private lessons in Optimist, Fusion dinghies, Funboat and Dart 16 catamarans, windsurfing and a First 31.7 keelboat, a sports school and leisure club outside the school holidays, keelboat outings and cruises, a dinghy park and stand-up paddle hire in summer.
