Lahden Windsurfing Club (LWC)
Mukkulan tapahtumapuisto, 15240 Lahti · Päijät-Häme · Finland
Description
Lahden Windsurfing Club (LWC) is a windsurfing and kiteboarding club that has been based on the shores of Lake Vesijärvi in Lahti, in the Mukkula district, since 1986. Its main base is at the tip of the Mukkula event park: a waterfront hut built by the club in 2004 for equipment storage, and a clubhouse used as an office and changing room since 2016. The club also offers SUP.
Every summer, from late May to the end of September, it runs 3-hour beginner windsurfing courses in small groups of 1 to 3 people, from age 12. Mukkula beach is sandy with no large rocks, and rigging is done on the lawn. The equipment is modern (Nova boards of 170 to 210 litres, Unifiber sails). The course price includes the year's club membership, which allows free use of the club's equipment all season.
In winter the club practises snowkiting and ice kiting. Around Lahti, it lists several spots (Mukkula, Ruoriniemi, Kankola, Vääksy, Kettula...), with their winds and features.
