Association Surf Larache

Association Surf Larache — جمعية ركوب الأمواج العرائش — is the board-sports club of Larache, a port town set at the mouth of the Oued Loukkos, between Rabat and Tangier. It is the only organised surfing body on the whole stretch of coast from Mehdia to Asilah: this area has no commercial school and no board shop.

The club introduces its members to surfing on the Larache waves — the hollow left that peels along the harbour jetty on the north side, known locally as la Peligrosa, and Ras R'Mel beach on the far side of the estuary. It also runs kayak and stand-up paddle outings on the Loukkos itself, whose lower valley has been a Ramsar wetland since 2005. A word of caution: current and water quality at the river mouth call for local advice before going in, and the Loukkos floods in earnest in winter.

The association does more than practise. In summer 2025 it took part in the second edition of the « Chbika Samer Tour » eco-caravan, a marine-pollution awareness campaign run across thirty Moroccan beaches with the Bahri association. On the competition side, one of its members, Badr Khayari, represented Larache at the Moroccan surfing and bodyboarding championship. No kitesurfing or wing foiling here.

No opening hours are published: the association has no premises open to the public and announces no staffed hours. Outings are arranged case by case, by phone, by email or by message on its social accounts.
