AJESN - Essaouira Youth and Water Sports Association

AJESN — the Essaouira Youth and Water Sports Association — was founded in 2011 and is listed on the official register of affiliated clubs of the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation, which sums up its remit as developing water sports in a city with a deep maritime tradition. Its chairman is Nabil Zedouni.

AJESN is the organiser of the Essaouira leg of the Moroccan strapless kitesurf championship, run with the Provincial Tourism Council and under the federation's banner. From 1 to 3 July 2025, thirty-two riders from across the country competed in the waves of the bay; local rider Ismaïl Adrazane took the senior title ahead of Amin Er-Resafi and Mohammed Chahibat, while Soulaymane El Khafi won the junior category.

Away from competition, the association works mainly with the city's young people. Since March 2025 an eco-surf session has brought them together every Sunday morning on Essaouira beach for surf coaching, beach cleaning and awareness workshops, run with the Provincial Tourism Council. The same workshops run alongside the championship, covering coastal preservation, marine pollution, how wind works and marine knots. It is one of the few federated clubs on Morocco's Atlantic coast keeping board sports alive outside the commercial circuit.

The association publishes no opening hours.
